What each product actually is
Vizard — credits per uploaded minute
You upload a file or paste a link (YouTube, Zoom recordings, and similar). Vizard transcribes the audio, identifies moments that can stand alone, crops each to a 9:16 frame, burns in animated captions, and assigns an engagement/virality score. One long video routinely yields a dozen-plus candidates. Highlight detection is reliably good on dialogue-dense sources and weaker on rambling or visually-driven footage. The meter is the product decision. One credit equals one minute of uploaded source. A 90-minute podcast is 90 credits whether you keep three clips or thirty. The free plan is the more useful no-cost clipper in this pair: 60 credits a month, 720p with a watermark, a 10-minute export cap, and 3-day storage (vizard.ai/pricing, August 2026). You can run a real episode. You cannot publish cleanly from it.
Klap — pay for clips you generate
You paste a YouTube link or upload a file. Klap finds talking topics, reframes them (AI Reframe 2 can apply split screen, screencasts, gaming), captions the result, and scores viral potential. It advertises 52 languages and scheduling to TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn. It is explicit that speech-heavy footage is the happy path. Full breakdown in our Klap review.
The meter is generated clips, not source minutes. The live yearly grid (klap.app/pricing, August 2026) is Basic $14/month billed yearly for 100 clips, Pro $39/month billed yearly for 300, and Pro+ $94/month billed yearly for 1,000. There is no recurring free plan on that page. The homepage offers one free video with no credit card. The homepage FAQ still says “Klap Pro for just $29/month” while the pricing page's Pro yearly card is $39 — confirm checkout rather than trusting the FAQ sticker.
The meter is the decision
If you upload a two-hour weekly show and only post eight shorts, Vizard charges you for 120 minutes of source and Klap charges you for eight generated clips (plus whatever extras you rendered and discarded). If you upload a 12-minute talking-head and generate forty candidates you never post, Klap's clip meter is the one that hurts. Neither unit is “fairer.” They price different waste.
That is also why the free surfaces are not interchangeable. Vizard Free is a monthly allotment — enough to learn the tool on real episodes. Klap's one video is a single audition. If you need a month of no-cost clipping to decide, Vizard is the default. If you already know you like Klap's cuts and you think in clips posted, not hours uploaded, the yearly Basic card is the cheaper-looking entry — confirm the live page.

If you already have the clip
Stop comparing clippers. Word-by-word captions, B-roll, zooms, and a silence pass are a different product. That is Submagic — covered in Vizard vs Submagic and the Submagic review. A common stack is one clipper for the batch and Submagic for the keepers. That is two subscriptions. Do not add it until the clipper's default type is the thing you are still fixing.
