How We Evaluate, and Why You Can Trust It

AI Video Tools Guide exists because the internet is full of AI tool 'reviews' that are marketing copy in disguise. Here is exactly how the assessments on this site are built — and what they are based on.

Who runs this site

AI Video Tools Guide is written and run by Scott, an editor who builds and operates AI-assisted production pipelines — generative video, voice synthesis, and ComfyUI/VFX workflows — on real projects. The site grew out of that working practice: too much of what is published about these tools is vendor copy, and a creator choosing a stack needs an honest, production-literate assessment instead. There is no invented editorial team behind these pages; every review carries the same single, real byline.

Our evaluation methodology

Every tool we cover runs through the same process, designed to make conclusions comparable and honest about their basis:

  • Documentation and changelog review. We read the vendor's official docs, feature pages, and release notes in full — capabilities are stated as the vendor publishes them, not as marketing implies them.
  • Spec and pricing verification. Published plans, limits, resolutions, clip lengths, and prices are checked directly against the vendor's site and dated (August 2026).
  • Community-report synthesis. We weigh credible, consistent reports from working creators and editors using the tools in production, and we say so when a claim rests on user reports rather than published specs.
  • Hands-on testing in progress. A structured hands-on testing pass across the stack is underway; findings are published as they are completed, and pages will be updated to reflect first-hand results when they exist.
  • Mandatory cons. Every review carries a "What We Didn't Like" section. No tool earns a perfect score, because no tool is perfect.
  • Pipeline scoring. Tools are judged partly on how cleanly they chain with the rest of a real stack, not just in isolation.

The "Last Verified" badge

Conversion pages carry a "How We Evaluate" box stating the basis of the assessment and a Last Verified: August 2026 date, which refers to our verification of the vendor's published pricing, specs, and terms. AI tools change fast; the date tells you how current that verification is. We re-verify on a rolling schedule and update the badge when we do.

Editorial independence and affiliate disclosure

AI Video Tools Guide is reader-supported through affiliate partnerships: when you sign up for a tool via one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the work. It does not buy a better review.

Corrections

Found something out of date or wrong? Tools update constantly and we would rather fix it than defend it. Email editorial@aivideotoolsguide.com and we will verify and correct promptly, updating the verification date when we do.
